The Rojak #72: The Buddha in the Mango Tree and Consequences for Vandals
A monthly roundup of things that aren't related to Southeast Asia or Archaeology, but kinda are
Welcome to the November edition of the Rojak where among our menagerie of stories we find the unexpected treasure cradled in a Thai mango tree, the gender-fluid dance floors of Indonesia and the prosecution of modern-day cave vandals at Uluru. There isn’t a good thread that links all these stories - they are is diverse and complex as the regions they represent, inviting us to delve deeper into the familiar, the obscure, and the profoundly human.
The Rojak is a bonus newsletter for the members on Substack and supporters from Buy Me a Coffee. It is named after an exotic salad found in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Thank you for reading, and no rock art sites were vandalised (by me!) during the making of this newsletter.
